7 Steps to Take This Spring Get the Landscaping of Your Dreams

Spring is a great time for landscaping, as plants and flowers start to bloom and the weather becomes more conducive to outdoor work. Here are some tips for preparing your landscape for spring. In our area of Roswell Georgia, East Cobb and Cherokee County - we are in Zone 7b.  You will see this when you are looking for plants that do best!

  1. Clean up: Start by removing any fallen leaves, branches, and debris from the winter months. This will help to clear the way for new growth and prevent any potential problems.

  2. Prune: Prune shrubs, trees, and other plants to remove any dead or damaged branches and encourage new growth. Be sure to prune at the right time for your specific plants, as some plants require specific timing for optimal results.

  3. Aerate the lawn: Aerating your lawn can help to improve its health and encourage new growth. This involves removing small plugs of soil from the lawn to allow air, water, and nutrients to reach the roots.

  4. Fertilize: Fertilize your lawn and plants to help them recover from the winter months and prepare for the growing season. Consider using a slow-release fertilizer for long-lasting results.

  5. Plant new additions: Spring is a great time to plant new shrubs, trees, flowers, and other plants. Be sure to select plants that are well-suited to your local climate and conditions. Again, remember in our area we are in Zone 7b.

  6. Install hardscaping: Consider installing hardscaping elements such as walkways, retaining walls, and patios to enhance the look and functionality of your landscape.

  7. Start a vegetable garden: Spring is also a great time to start a vegetable garden, as the soil is warming up and the weather is becoming more conducive to planting. Consider starting with easy-to-grow vegetables such as tomatoes, peppers, and beans.

By following these tips, you can prepare your landscape for spring and get a head start on the growing season. Don't forget to also consider your local climate and specific plant needs when preparing your landscape for spring, as this can greatly impact its success.
